More about Maremmas!

The Maremma is a large, white or light colored dog usually weighing between 70 and 110 pounds.  They are often described as being lively, majestic, intelligent and courageous without being aggressive.  It has the ability to bond with many different animals including alpacas, llamas, goats and sheep if properly trained.  It will assume a protective, parental attitude.   A successful Maremma guardian dog will be good temperd, ATTENTIVE to the stock, PROTECTIVE of the stock and TRUSTWORTHY with the stock.  It is important to remember that all dogs go through the antics of puppy-hood.  Maremmas do not become fully developed guardian dogs until about the age of two.  It will defend both house and master, and it is particularly attentive with children.
